6.05pm - A word from the sponsors; Health and Safety with GHD

6.10pm - An overview of the Asset Management Data Standards (AMDS) project; Stephen Clarke, NZTA

Stephen is an information and data management thought leader. Getting value from data, to make the world a better place is what gets him out of bed in the morning. He has worked in a range of sectors, but his passion is in increasing public sector efficiency and effectiveness through better service design and data quality. He has developed many information standards in NZ and internationally for ISO (and others) over the last 15 years. As an anthropologist he understands human systems, and as a technical expert he understands information systems. Successful technology implementations bring these two perspectives together to create human-centred products, that provide services designed for people not the platform. He is currently the Chief Data Officer for the NZ Transport Authority, his primary goal is to improve their asset data capability to make New Zealand’s transport systems better, safer and value for money.

Sean will share insights into Wellington City Councils latest work as the leverage converging technologies such as BIM, Spatial, Rules as Code, and IoT to help face Wellingtons opportunities and challenges.

Sean is City Innovation Lead at Wellington City Council focusing on Smart Cities and using partnerships to deliver solutions to the citizens of Wellington. With a background in urban planning, Sean leads the development of Wellington’s smart city, exploring how Open Data, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Data Visualisation, GIS and Virtual Reality can help Council understand the city, better talk with citizens and make better decisions. Sean’s work has been recognised with a number of national and international awards and continues help Wellington lead in a range of fields from Urban Planning to Civil Defence.

7.10pm - Technology and the Team; Jake Nash, Warren and Mahoney

Technology is only as powerful as those using it, and personal technological development is never-ending. Jake Nash, of Warren and Mahoney, has spent the three years taking a more personal approach to staff development, in an effort to increase user engagement with technology with excellent results.

Jake Nash is an Associate, Senior Technologist, and Studio BIM Manager for Warren and Mahoney Wellington. Jake’s Specialism is in training, staff development and continued engagement with Technology, Standards, and BIM. Bringing an increased understanding of BIM to the studio is fundamental to project success, and Jake ensures that his team are supported and educated every step of the way. Jake has spent the last nine years with WAM, and has lead teams to document many major projects including the Bowen Campus redevelopment, Victoria University’s Gateway Project, The Joint Foods Science Facility for Massey University and AgResearch, Sarjeant Gallery, and Suter Gallery.
